Joyce Murraine
Joycelyn Murraine was born in Antigua. She was educated in the UK and has been a banker for the past 40 years, Joyce, as she prefers to be called, is Country Manager for Scotiabank BVI LTD. Joyce’s action-oriented management style and emphasis on ethics and professional standards, led to her being recognized as one of the most respected bankers in both the US Virgin Islands and now in the British Virgin Islands. She is a firm believer in giving back to the community and juggles the responsibility of running a bank and working with various service clubs/charities and community related activities. Joyce is the President of the BVI Bankers Association and the proud mother of one son.
Tanis McDonald
Tanis joined KPMG Canada as a graduate in 1998 and has worked with KPMG’s audit practices in the Cayman Islands, London and now heads up the audit department in the British Virgin Islands. Over the past 11 years with KPMG, Tanis has gained significant experience from involvement on global engagements, particularly in the financial services sector working with hedge funds, banks and corporate services clients. As Audit Director of the British Virgin Islands firm, Tanis is responsible for providing audit, accounting and tax services to a large portfolio of clients. In addition to managing the local portfolio, Tanis’ responsibilities include strategic management, business development, recruiting, and staff training and development.
Amberly Crabbe
Amberly T Crabbe is well on her way to becoming one of the Virgin Islands’ most affluent self-made young women. She is a Center for Insurance Education Scholarship recipient; a Golden Key International Honour Society inductee; a 2007 Howard University Graduate with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Marketing Cum Laude; and the only Howard University Student selected by The International Scholar Laureate Program to join a Business Delegation to China. This past summer, Amberly left the Public Service after only a year to pursue entrepreneurship. On the path to achieving her life’s aspirations, Ms. Crabbe formed Pet Planet VI Doggie Day Spa& Pet Supply Store, in Fish Bay Tortola, which she presently runs and manages.
Sauda Underwood Smith
Sauda Underwood Smith was born and raised in New York City. She is an alumna of Wesleyan University and the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She re-located to the Virgin Islands in 1996. During this time she has been employed at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College. She lectures in Linguistics, Literature and History. She is presently the Head of the Humanities Department and has recently published 2 textbooks. She is married and has one son.
Janice Skelton
A native Virgin Islander, Janice is Managing Director for Caribbean Corporate Services Limited a Trust Company in the Virgin Islands (British).
She is responsible for the overall strategic planning and direction of the company, including operating decisions, directing personnel and coordinating operations. She is also responsible for the supervision and co-ordination of the business activities of the company within the policies established by the board of Directors and recommends changes and additions when necessary.
Janice holds a Master of Science in International Management and is a Member of the Chartered Management Institute. She is married, with three children and two grandchildren.
Vanessa King
Vanessa King is a graduate of the University of the West Indies and the Norman Manley Law School of Jamaica. She is a partner in the law firm of O’Neal Webster, where she is head of the firm’s corporate and commercial department. Vanessa is passionate about the protection and advancement of children’s rights and has worked closely for more than 15 years with children’s homes and places of safety in Jamaica. She is a member of the BVI Red Cross, a Notary Public and a past Secretary of the BVI Bar Association. She is also the current Second Deputy Chairman of the BVI Branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Vanessa is married to Julien Johnson.
Dr. Kedrick Pickering
Dr. Kedrick Pickering has administered medical care in the Territory for the past 21 years. He possesses specialist capabilities in the field of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He is married and has four children. He is extremely appreciative of the creative arts and the natural beauty of his homeland. He spends his leisure time engaging in sporting activities, fishing and attending youth related events.
Glenn Harrigan
Glenn Harrigan is a Chartered Accountant by profession, but an entrepreneur at heart. He is part owner of the CCP Group of Companies which provides such services as Company Incorporations, Audit, Accountancy and Insolvency. He also has ownership interests in a Fashion Boutique, Travel Agency, Restaurant & Family Entertainment Centre, Water Sports Tour Operator and Paint Store. He also holds the position of Treasurer of the BVI Investment Club from its inception over 16 years ago to present. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of the BVI Airports Authority. He has assisted many persons to get their start in business by preparing successful business plans and loan proposals for them. He is married with four children.
Paul Gourieux
Paul graduated magna cum laude from Kentucky State University, in Frankfort Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration/Specialization in Marketing. He began his banking career with Chase Manhattan Bank in the United States in 1993 and joined the bank in the US Virgin Islands in 1998. Paul had managerial responsibility for the Consumer Credit division of the Chase Manhattan Bank for the USVI & BVI during First Bank’s acquisition of the Chase operation in October of 2002. In 2006, he was transferred to First Bank’s British Virgin Islands branch, where he currently serves as Vice President & Market Manager. Paul is also active with the BVI Banks Association, where he currently serves as the Secretary / Treasurer.
Karia Christopher
Karia Christopher is a devoted wife and mother of two beautiful girls. She is most known for her role as Host of the local talk show “Real Talk”. Karia graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Management from Alabama A&M University and a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management from The New School University. She enjoys reading, travelling with her family and is an avid supporter of her church and community service projects. Karia loves life and relishes on the motto "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams" by Eleanor Roosevelt, and encourages everyone to live their life to the fullest without regrets!
Dr. Heskith Vanterpool
A physician for more than 30 years; an honours graduate from The University of the West Indies School of Medicine with specialty training in Gastroenterology and more recently in Non-invasive Cardiology. He has contributed to BVI Health services in both the public and private sector for over 25 of those years. Privately he is the CEO and Medical Director of Eureka Medical Clinic and a founding partner of Medicure LTD. He is an avid reader, a Rotarian, enjoys long walks, travel and the challenge of new projects. Dr. Vanterpool is happily married to Jean, his wife of 33 years and is the proud parent of three adult children.
Dr. Denyse de Gale-Macintyre
Dr. de Gale's professional journey started at York College in New York where she graduated Suma Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree Physics. Upon graduating she attended the University of the West Indies where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medicine and Surgery. Dr. de Gale began her post graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Port-of-Spain General Hospital in Trinidad and further pursued her training in England. Dr. de Gale joined Eureka Medical Clinic in September of 2001 where she currently practices. Dr. de Gale is happily married and is enjoying raising her two year old son. In her free time she enjoys singing, travelling and karate.
Jerry Samuel
Jerry Samuel is a Barrister by profession, employed with Conyers Dill & Pearman in the British Virgin Islands. Prior to becoming a lawyer his distinguished academic and professional career includes having obtained a bachelors degree in Business Economics from Florida A&M University in Florida, United States of America and a masters degree in Political Economy from Carleton University in Ontario, Canada. Jerry has a keen interest in the development of young people. He is actively involved in the local community as a member of the BVI Bar Association and as an amateur basketball coach and mentor. His hobbies and interests include sports & fitness, traveling, listening to music, watching movies, photography and reading.
Keith Lewis
Rev. Keith Lewis is a native of the Commonwealth of Dominica, a graduate of Redeemer Reformed University (Canada), the University of the West Indies, and United Theological College of the West Indies (Jamaica). He is an ordained Minister of the Methodist Church and has been a Marriage and Guidance Counselor. He is an educator, working with the Department of Education Student Services and is located at the Elmore Stoutt High School.
Judy Haycraft
Judy was born and raised in the UK. After graduating with a Degree in Politics and Languages from the University of Hull, Judy worked in executive recruitment in London for 9 years before relocating to the BVI in 2000. Judy is a Senior Manager with Deloitte in the BVI and leads their Human Capital Consulting practice. She is currently Vice-President of the Virgin Islands Human Resource Association and a member of SHRM. Favourite pastimes are Triathlons and more recently Adventure racing (the ultimate physical challenge!!). Judy is married to Chris and is mum to Nathan and Nicolas.
Judith Vanterpool
Mrs Judith Vanterpool currently leads the Workforce Training Division at the H. L Stoutt Community College which envelopes such diverse areas as the Chartered Management Institute ( CMI), Marine Studies Unit, Financial Services Institute (FSI) and Centres & Institutes for Technical and Vocational Studies. Her extensive background spans Retail Operations, Business Consultation and all levels of the education sector of the Virgin Islands. Underlying all spheres of her life is a deep faith in God which guides all her endeavours. She is very committed to her family and is able to extend that type of love to all persons with whom she comes into contact.
Paloma Helm
Paloma Helm was born and raised on the island of Tortola, in the British Virgin Islands. She attended local schools St Georges and Cedar until high school, at which point she moved to St Thomas, USVI to attend Antilles School. Upon graduating from the University of Miami with a bachelor’s in Print Journalism, she returned home and started up the Dove Restaurant with her now husband, Scott Hart. The Dove Restaurant has been open for almost six years, thanks to its hard working staff and wonderful customers. In her free time Paloma is an active member of the Rotary Club of Tortola.
Duquesa Dean
Duquesa Dean currently serves as the Director of Quality Assurance at Kerzner International Bahamas Limited, a division of a leading international developer and operator of destination resorts, casinos and luxury hotels. Prior to this position at the 2317 room Atlantis Resort, she served as the General Manager of Retail. She gained her banking experience as the Manager of Treasury and Client Service at the Royal Bank of Scotland. She received her certification in Human Resources Management with Distinction from Columbia Southern University and her Banking Law Certification with the Bahamas Institute of Bankers. Duquesa is involved with various community service organizations, assists with private corporate youth events and is actively involved with Toastmasters International.
Joseph George
Joseph George is 14 years old and started playing music at the tender age of three. A student of the St. George’s Secondary School in the British Virgin Islands, Joseph is an aspiring musician and a member of the school band. He sings, plays the piano, guitar and drums. Joseph briefly received formal piano training while attending Harrigan’s Music School on the island of Tortola. His musical inspirations include Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Alicia Keys, and Ronnie Jordon, among others. Joseph has performed at various local community-wide events and enjoys displaying his musical talents. He is the youngest of five siblings.
